Ao Nang
Krabi's main tourist area and the practical base for most visitors. A long beachfront road lined with hotels, restaurants, dive shops, massage parlors, and tour operators. Longtail boats to Railay (100 THB) and 4 Islands tours depart from the eastern pier. The beach itself is decent but not Krabi's best — the real value is convenience and selection. Nightlife is modest compared to Phuket but there are enough bars and live music venues to keep things lively.
Best for
First-timers, island-hoppers & convenience
- Gateway to Railay Beach (100 THB longtail, 15 min) and all island tours
- Widest selection of hotels, restaurants, and tour operators in the province
- Walking street and night bazaar for evening food and shopping
- Easy scooter access to Tiger Cave Temple and inland attractions
Recommended hotels: Sea Seeker Krabi Resort, Panan Krabi Resort, Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach, Aonang Cliff Beach Resort

The provincial capital with a real Thai town feel, sitting on the Krabi River 20 minutes inland from the coast.
